9to5Aviation exists to give readers accurate, useful and independent coverage of aviation. These are the standards every story is held to.
We would rather be right than first. Each factual claim is checked against a primary source before publication. See our Fact-Checking Policy.
Accidents, incidents and safety-related claims follow stricter rules, set out in our Safety Reporting Policy. In short: we report what investigators have published, we label preliminary information as preliminary, and we do not speculate about causes.
Technical explainers are reviewed for accuracy against the regulation or engineering practice they describe. Where a story needs specialist judgement, we say who provided it, or we say that we have not had it confirmed.
No airline, manufacturer, airport or government body has a say over what we publish. We do not accept payment for coverage. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence over editorial decisions. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
News reports what happened. Analysis explains why it matters, based on evidence. Opinion pieces are clearly labelled.
Developing stories are updated as facts emerge, with the time shown. Errors are corrected under our Corrections Policy.
How we use AI tools, and the human oversight around them, is described in our AI Use Policy.
